In case you haven't met Scott Ginsberg, he is a 26-year-old guy, the only person in the world who wears a nametag 24-7-365 (since November 2, 2000) to encourage people to become friendlier and more approachable. He is so committed to being approachable, he had a nametag tattooed to his chest!
Scott's website, hellomynameisscott.com,
has tons of articles, mostly geared for the business world, but I like to think I can read anything and apply it in some way to everyday life, even my world of diapers, laundry, kids, and volunteer work. Just substitute colleague, associate, and client with neighbor, church member and youth group kid.
Here's one I thought was pretty good he wrote about learning names. It includes my favorite line: Forget about you. Focus on them.
We can do this!

Wow! That was really great helpful information. Thank you! I have the same problem with remembering names.
This really is so important...I liked the comment he made about knowing someone's name being the difference between a stranger and a friend...
It's something we all have to learn and practice! (I just posted a bit about Cal's intro to introducing himself...)
Thanks for always sharing timely and thought-provoking stuff to think about and improve!
Those were great tips to remembering names. Very interesting fella but I tell ya Katherine, I don't thing hubby will like it if I get my name tatooed on my chest! :D
I'll have to check that out!
But I love that thought...forget about you, focus on them! I think that is the key!
I love that you have taken this on as a "cause"--very worthwhile!
