Responsibility training: start 'em early

Just in case you thought it was all fun and games around here, I thought I'd set the record straight. We're teaching responsibility, by golly!

I'll use our five year old as today's example.

Remember this assignment?

Here she is - over two weeks later. She slept in her bed so many times that I loosened my grip on my usual rule of "no 'character' anything." Here she shows off her princess sheets.

She sometimes gets the job of photographer. Hey, I'm in a picture!

And since she shows such great promise in the responsibility department, I let her have a coveted job: helping with Mom's highlights. Wouldn't you want to go to a hairdresser with this much attention to detail? She wanted me to post the picture she took of me with the cap on. Uh, no.

Next job: depopulating the bathtub. I would love to take a shower, but where to stand?

You are one brave momma giving up control of your highlights! I don't know if I could ever do that! And she looks darling in the midst of her princess bedroom!

Seeing the bathtub and her highlighting reminded me how I used to stick my daughter Grace in the bath tub dressed in only her diaper with a puddle of washable paint and a paint brush. She'd paint the walls for an hour and then I'd hose it down along with her. She loved it. Nice blog, I love the pictures.
