Why I can do what I do

I’m glad everyone got to meet my “better half” this weekend. Isn’t he great? Now you know why I can do what I do.

As you may have guessed, Dennis is not nearly as bungling as he makes himself out to be. Trust me on this one. He neglected to write that he also took all five kids to the movies Saturday night. He obviously missed my post on the Minus-One Theory, but fortunately for him, it worked out in the end: the 2-year-old blissfully fell asleep thirty minutes into Barnyard (“And there were some really loud parts too, Mom!” added our 11-year-old son).

It's all a matter of "calculated risk,"of which he is the master. He knew the kids wouldn't be getting out at the airport when he picked me up, curbside. So who needs to bring shoes (there are usually a few spare flip flops in the truck anyway)? A man after my own heart.

It’s good to be home. As I’m unpacking, the following is going on in my bedroom:
  • the 5- and 8-year-olds are jumping off the bed taking more “genie” pictures
  • the 2-year-old is taking [another] bath
  • the 13-year-old is drying her hair getting ready to go to a slumber party
  • The 11-year-old is playing a [very loud] army game on the computer
See, nothing has changed in my absence.

Comfortable as an old shoe, coming home is. Everything in the house was no more and no less chaotic than it was when I left.

But I did check to make sure my chain saw was safe and sound.

It was.

I'm sure it is nice to get away...but nice to come home.

The post from your hubby was great...I read it to my hubby and he laughed because it sounds like him. I'm sure you had a big laugh over it as well...nice to be appreciated.

Glad you had a safe trip. It's always good to know that hubby can keep things together while mom is MIA! :)
