Rest: Permission granted

My house is coming together, slowly, after the festivities of the holiday season. Today the kids helped me take out trash, mop, vacuum, and finally put away (yes, almost a week later) suitcases and backpacks from our Nebraska trip.

My Christmas tree is still up (with various stocking items littered underneath it), and there is a pile of wrapping paper and gift bags behind my bedroom door. Laundry is stacked in every conceivable corner. Remind me to dust later.

Part of me gets anxious seeing the work ahead of me, stepping over piles of this and that I've ignored for the past week or so while I enjoyed time with my family.

But the other part of me knows this is why we have holidays.

I'm rested now.

I can do this.

Boy does that sound familiar - we are doing the same thing today - we hit school again tomorrow. And yes, the good thing is that it will still be there tomorrow - hmmm, good reminder for me too - maybe I'll go play a game with the kids!!

I'm so much happier now, too! I was pretty miserable pre-Christmas, but I seem much more centered and ready to handle things again. I'm glad to hear that it's going around!

Yes you can! It just feels so much better after it's all put up. Think of the goal. You CAN do it!

Rest on!!! I would love to learn to "rest" a little more often. I think I've forgotten how.

I still have more than half of my Christmas stuff to put away. I think I'll finish this coming weekend since we are "doing school" this week.

If it makes any one feel better I just dealt with mine yesterday. I realized after visiting two different families over the weekend and talking with several others that I might be the only one who hadn't dealt with it. I just didn't have it in me last week. I rested too!

Blessing to you and your family in 2007!
