A pedicure would have been WAY more fun

Because I have no pride and because we're all family here, you, my friends, are the first to see my toes in all their glory.

In one of my more humbling visits to the doctor, I had to admit it had been (ahem) several months a while since I'd taken off all my nail polish. Hey, it's winter, who's looking? Just add another coat. Wrong. It ruined my big toenails and made them grow all crazy.

Two (count 'em) TWO ingrown toenails removed at the same time. I haven't had this much fun since...well, since childbirth. Even with some serious numbing medicine, I had to use my deep breathing exercises.

When it rains, it pours. Here's our third flu patient, poor baby. Good thing she doesn't need me to carry her anywhere. AS IF I could even walk...

Moral to the story: Take off your toenail polish, ladies. Especially take off that really good kind that lasts forever. I know, I know, it's February. But you never know what's going on under there. Who knows, you may need those toes to balance when your little ones need help getting to the bathroom when they're sick...

My doctor is good, but he's no pedicurist. Trust me on this one.

And how should I categorize THIS post???

Your third flu patient is not very fun. I'm so sorry this is not going well. Madison is home today again too. She is getting tested for Mono tomorrow. She has been so sick...the one that never gets sick. Your poor poor toes....so sorry.....I get pedicures once a month but I will keep my eyes open for this one.

I don't think I would have catagorized it under "fun". Youch, that looks sore!

Awww, poor baby girl. Hope she's over it quickly!

Oh, that looks awful! Poor you!
And look at that poor sweet girl - she looks MISERABLE!

Okay, I know this post isn't meant to be funny, but I laughed....yes, I did. Because I never take off my toenail polish all summer long. But, I do take it off at the end of summer and let my nails heal until the next. Big stuff I'm admitting to you today!!!

I pray your patient is better soon (and your toes).

You must explain this connection between nail polish and ingrown toenails. Because for real, all I do is keep painting over the old stuff. I've been wearing the same color for multiple years and NEVER take it off. I guess I should? What's going on under there?

Oh man, I am so sorry - I did not realize that there was anything that did that either - I think you need a whole post on how that happens - UGH!!! Hang in there AND the flu on top of it - that's yuck!! I will be praying for you.

I had some reeeaaally bad stuff going on under my nail polish last spring/summer. It has taken months to grow out. Ouch and ugh. I will blog about the natural remedy that I found that helped, rather than take up your entire comment section. I am so sorry you have to deal with this, AND the flu this week, or all weeks. You're a little busy with the Beth Moore simulcast....

I'm not sure if "fun" is really an appropriate category for this post. Perhaps "my life is crazy and i LOVE it... even with two bandaged toes" would be better. Sorry about the toes... And sorry about the flu patient. Although, she does look precious even when she's sick.

Also... have fun with the Beth Moore simulcast! I just saw her live in Detroit this past weekend. She's incredible, and I know you'll be blessed. I'm praying for it!

Oh my word! A good lesson for me to learn since I seem to put toe polish on twice a year and not take it off in between. Yikes!

Hope you recover quickly!!

Man, I'm so sorry to hear what is all going on under your one roof. 3 sick kids, and 2 ingrown toe nails. Hope things look brighter soon.

That is very good advice - and superb motivation via a yucky visual!
I leave on my polish entirely too long, when I actually put some on.
No longer, thanks to Katherine's misery! ;)
I hope little one feels better soon - poor thing!

If you're saying he removed the whole toenail, I'm going to be sick. I can't bear the thought. Oh, poor you. I'm never polishing my toenails again!

Ow, ow, ow!! I'm so sorry that you're in so much pain!! That had to hurt!! I'll be thinking of you...

Hello,

You think that maybe after all that pain from not taking off your nail polish, it would teach you that maybe you shouldn't wear it anymore? I think that maybe thats a sure sign to quit.

A friend.
