My brain is still a bit jet-lagged, so I'll resort to letting pictures do the talking.
We really did have a great time.
Lots of waiting at the airports (whose idea was it to take a 6:30 a.m. flight out of Dallas, anyway?):

Goofiness, too (what's Annie doing there to the left?).

This was before the massive spill that necessitated a hasty exit from the coffee shop:

Boogie boarding in the Pacific:

Picking raspberries at
Avila Valley Barn:
More posed pics:

It wasn't ALL smiles...

But we did see some beautiful sunsets:

Whose idea was it to take a night flight home? If only Mom could sleep...

It's good to be home!

Great pictures!
I know when you're making reservations for vacation and you're so excited, getting an early start to the excitement, soaking in every minute and leaving late SEEMS like such great ideas. And, then....you live it. It's tough.
But, it all looks worth it!
Looks like lots of fun. It always looks like your family really ENJOYS being together!
And I really, really admire you for undertaking such a grand voyage with five. I haven't attempted more than a 200-mile road trip with our three yet.
Looks like you had a great trip! Those morning flights sound good until you remember that you have to get there several hours early! Glad you are home safely!
It looks like a WONDERFUL vacation!
GORGEOUS family! Looks like a blast. Glad you had a safe and fun time.
You have such a lovely family. Looks like it was a fun vacation, other than the early morning and late night flights. ;v)
What a beautiful family! Thanks for sharing these beautiful photos, many blessings to you all, Adele
What wonderful pictures - and great memories for your kids! Btw, I loved that last post in your series. I had some incredible mothering mentors when I was in my 20s and am so grateful (as my kids should be as well) for them!
Welcome back! What fun you had! I'm glad you all survived those flights, too!
Seeing these pictures makes me even more excited for our trip to the beach (Gulf Coast) coming up next week! With a 3-year-old and a 10-month-old, I'm thinking it will be a DIFFERENT kind of fun than that which your family had! :)
I am so grateful to have found your blog. I am a mom to 5, ages 2-8. Thank you for the realization that someday it won't be all diapers and "I want"
God bless
Tonni
It looks like you & your family had a great time on your vacation. With five it really is a work of love taking a vacation. Hope you took tons of pictures!
Looks like fun, Katherine.
That last picture looks eerily familiar to me. Oh yeah, I've done it lots of times!!
That looks like so much fun. Great family pic.
Awesome photos Kathrynne....It looks like you guys SO had a good time.
This is the stuff those memories are made of :)
Thanks for sharing!
I'm exhausted just thinking about taking five kids on a trip! But it looks like you had a great time.
Really great pictures!! Love the whole family in wetsuits. I also love pictures of toddlers in their melted down state.
Looks like a great trip, full of adventures. My mom lives in San Luis Obispo, just north of Pismo - I love that part of California. She's taken us to that Avila Barn many times too. Such wonderful weather there and so pretty too. I grew up in the Mojave Desert in CA and it ain't nice like that!
