Whew! What a weekend!
Although Andrea invited me to attend The Revolve Tour in Hartford next week, I thought this year I needed to stick closer to home (Bummer! Maybe next year, Andrea!).
Allie and I went last year, and knew we needed to bring a group this year. Thirty-one girls and moms from our church joined about 10,000 others for this awesome conference in Dallas. This is the project that has required so much of my focus in the last month - getting everyone's tickets, hotel room assignments, carpool, and food arrangements was probably a little more than I bargained for when I volunteered, but it was so worth it.
We had a great time. The girls (and moms) loved hearing the stories behind the "successes": Natalie Grant's issues with self-esteem (she's someone you could just invite into your kitchen for a chat), Rachel Hockett's bulimia, Jenna Lucado's relationship with her famous preacher-author dad, Laura Wilkinson's setbacks that became the platform for faith to grow. Of course, Chad Eastham was the favorite again this year, with his talk about The Truth About Guys.
All the speakers are so real, so Christ-honoring - and the music! I'm not a big concert gal, but Hawk Nelson, Natalie Grant, and Ayiesha Woods were all incredible in person.
Most of the fun was behind the scenes, however. Watching the girls wait for each other, share their snacks, hole up in each other's hotel rooms until late (while the moms enjoyed the down duvets and pressed linens!) are all special memories that they will carry with them long after they've forgotten what the speakers talked about.
Here's Allie (14, on left) with her best friend.
Okay, now it's your turn: GO to Revolve in a city near you - you (and your teenage daughter) will love it!
