Spring break...and a move?

As if my posting schedule were not erratic enough, it's spring break this week. I'll do my best, but you've heard THAT one before.

We are planning on doing some family stuff later in the week, so in a Raising Five spring break first, we let two of our kids go with friends out of town for a couple of days. So it's me and the little girls and...Neal (13). So far we've (you guessed it) cleaned house, gone to lunch at Wendy's and gone grocery shopping. I'm sure they're wondering what all the hype was about spring break. I suppose I'll have a lot of makeup work to do with them by the end of the week.

Today's big news: we got a call that an offer is forthcoming on our house. I won't have any particulars until tomorrow, except for one thing:

They want to close in THREE WEEKS.

I am so excited that our dreams are finally becoming a reality!

On the other hand, I am so glad God has things under control, because right now I'm stifling a miniature panic attack. First of all, because I have an incredible amount of packing to do. THREE WEEKS! That puts us in the second week of April, more than eight weeks before the end of the school year here (and six weeks from Allie's (14) debut in Once Upon a Mattress). God can move mountains, and we'll need Him to do that in her heart if we aren't able to finish the school year here.

And second of all, BECAUSE WE HAVE NO HOUSE TO GO TO. Well, there IS the Crazy House (we call it that because it defies all conventions of "traditional" homebuilding. All in the name of "custom home."). It is on a gorgeous piece of property, and could be a stunning home, but it would require huge amounts of work, which inevitably also means CASH (as if we haven't done enough remodeling in the last month!). So we would have to get that one for a literal song for me to go there.

The other option (incredibly detestable to me if it means moving twice) is to lease a house for a few months and either wait to see what else comes on the market, or...build.

So that's where we sit today.

More news tomorrow.
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye.
Psalm 32:8, NKJV

Well congratulations on the offer, in any case! Isn't it good to know that God has it all worked out... even if he isn't in the habit of giving us the plan... ?

That's one of my very favorite verses; I pray it often. Because most of the time I do not know what to do.

And He is always faithful to it. :)

It will be fine..yet very over whelming. Been here..although it worked for us with the school thing and Madison. I would ask for 4 weeks if able....just ask your relator what she thinks...I cant wait to hear.

I am so excited! You could always rent an apartment for 3 months. Finish school and find you something! This is way too cool! And you gotta know God's got it under control! :-) Praying for you guys!!

WOW!!!! That is amazing! I have seen work like that from God before!! For our last move, we found out we were moving, invited a realtor over, didn't have to do anything to the house (we did it all when we moved in 4 years prior), I interviewed for a job and got it, we moved into a house we had a contract pending on (paying a small rental fee) and closed on both houses in one week.

All of that took place within 4 weeks....CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT!!!! It was only GOD doing it all! It was quite stressfull, but it all happened so fast that I don't remember much of the stress! (kind of like labor!) (for some anyway!)

I will be praying for the kids especially....this can be a wonderful time or a terrible one for them...I know....I moved a lot as a kid!!!

Bless you! I empathize! We had four offers this Spring before we accepted one and sold our house. One of the offers (we didn't end up accepting it) asked for us to move out in a week and a half. I understand your anxiety! :-) We got a couple more offers after that one and sold, so we are moving this Saturday ... in with my in-laws for a couple of weeks until the next house is available! Like you, we are moving from the suburbs/neighborhood out to the country. It's going to be so worth it! Especially since we know God has had His hand in the whole process and has a wonderful plan.

Also, I thought I'd share my theme verses for our move and transition time. When the stress seems to overwhelm me, I read this out loud:

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." -- Philippians 4:4-7

A friend of mine encouraged me to wake up each day with the thought "Rejoice! This is the day the Lord has made, and I will rejoice in it!"

Whew! Reading your blog leaves me a bit breathless. You all have been in a whirlwind since December, haven't you? Takes me back a few years to when we had our 4th child, sold our house, bought the new one, moved and hubby started his own business all within a short amount of time. I do remember the stress.

I will be praying that you get a good offer on the house. God is in control.
