We have reasonable limits on everything from media to time with friends. Our kids earn freedoms as they show responsibility. <br /><br />I think the point is not that sheltering is bad, but that it is not enough. My heart has been newly convicted of our need to be in the world, but not of it, loving deeply those who need it. There are so many around us! And I&#39;ve been so focused on the goal that I feel I&#39;ve missed out on some of the more important things. I had wonderful, loving parents too. Some of your words reminded me of How humble and wise they were, and of my need to emulate them even more. Thank you for re-posting this. It was not good for me and wish my parents had sheltered. My oldest 3 were not sheltered and they wish they had been. They wish we would have not let them see, say E.T.. The next 6 we have sheltered and they are grateful and glad we did. I believe there is a balance. I have grandchildren now and they are being sheltered. They are healthy and happy,very social children. We have neighborhood children allowed to watch adult programs and I can see how this is harmful to them. We need discernment in this!
